Teeth cleaning doesn’t stop with brushing and flossing. Plaque and tartar accumulate that we are unable to remove with brushing and flossing alone. During a teeth cleaning, the dental hygienist uses a scaler and ultrasonic instrument to get rid of plaque and tartar around your gum line, as well as in between your teeth. The more tartar there is in your mouth, the more time they’ll need to scale a particular spot. Polishing of the teeth and an application of fluoride is typically also done during a dental cleaning.
why is it important?
Professional teeth cleaning is important to reduce inflammation and prevent periodontal disease which can result in significant bone loss and ultimately tooth loss.
how much does it cost?
The fees for scaling are determined based on units of time. One unit of time is 15 minutes. The fees are:
1/2 unit: $18.45
1 unit: $36.90
2 units: $73.80
3 units: $110.70
4 units: $147.60
Fluoride (rinse): $15.30
Fluoride (gel or foam): $18.90
Fluoride (varnish): $22.50
how often do I need to get my teeth cleaned?
We typically recommend patients get their teeth cleaned every four or six months. Some patients that get minimal tartar build up may be able to get their teeth cleaned every twelve months. Our dental hygienists will be able to determine the ideal frequency based on your individual needs.
