what are they?
Dental exams in Regina and Saskatoon. Dental exams are an important part of preventive oral health care. During a dental exam, the dentist will check your teeth, gums, bone and other oral structures for defects and disease. The exam includes evaluating your risk of developing an oral health condition and identifying present concerns. A dental exam typically includes utilizing X-rays (radiographs) and other diagnostic procedures to provide the oral health professionals with sufficient information to provide an informed diagnosis and treatment plan.
why are they important?
Regular dental exams help protect us from serious and potentially painful oral health conditions. They are not just for your oral health, but also your overall health. If your hygienist or dentist finds indications of systemic disease that are presenting in the oral cavity, he or she may suggest that you see a medical doctor. Also, the exam gives your dentist a chance to provide tips on caring for your teeth and to detect oral health problems early. Early detection results in less complicated and costly treatment.
how much does a dental exam in Saskatoon and Regina cost?
Initial exams with unlimited x-rays are $75. Additional dental examination fees start at $35 plus x-rays.
how often do I need to get a dental exam?
If you do not have any concerns or symptoms we recommend that you get your teeth examined on a yearly basis. For patients that are at high risk of developing oral health conditions, we may suggest more frequently. If you are having any pain or tenderness in or around your mouth we suggest you contact a dental professional as soon as possible.
Even if you no longer have your natural teeth, it’s important to see your dentist for regular exams to maintain your oral health and the condition of your replacement teeth.
